Continue to the National Museum, home to the famous Lucy fossil and a fascinating collection of ancient Ethiopian artifacts. Visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of Addis Ababa’s most important religious landmarks, and explore the Ethnographic Museum, located in the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie. Conclude the day with a visit to Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open-air markets, where you can experience the vibrant atmosphere, local traditions, and daily life of Addis Ababa.
Day 2
Fly to Bahir Dar – Lake Tana & Blue Nile Falls
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bahir Dar, a beautiful lakeside town located on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and begin exploring the area with a scenic boat cruise on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake. Visit the Ura Kidane Mihret Monastery, one of the lake’s most important monasteries, renowned for its colorful murals, ancient manuscripts, and distinctive round thatched-roof architecture. In the afternoon, drive to Tis Issat Village to visit the spectacular Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Abay or “The Smoking Water.” Enjoy the surrounding scenery and learn about this important natural landmark. (Please note that water flow at the falls varies depending on the season.)
Day 3
Drive Bahir Dar – Gondar
After breakfast, drive through the scenic landscapes of the Amhara highlands to Gondar, the former imperial capital of Ethiopia established in the 17th century. Known as the “Camelot of Africa,” Gondar is famous for its castles, palaces, and rich royal heritage. In the afternoon, explore the Royal Enclosure (Fasil Ghebbi), a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring impressive castles and palaces built by Emperor Fasilidas and his successors. Continue to Debre Birhan Selassie Church, renowned for its stunning frescoes and its iconic ceiling decorated with hundreds of angel faces. End your day with a visit to Qusquam Church, a historic religious site associated with Empress Mentewab and Ethiopia’s royal past.
Day 4
Excursion to Simien Mountains National Park
Today, drive to Buyit Ras, the gateway to the spectacular Simien Mountains National Park, often referred to as the “Roof of Africa.” This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its dramatic escarpments, towering peaks, deep valleys, and breathtaking highland scenery. Enjoy scenic viewpoints and short hikes through this remarkable landscape while searching for endemic wildlife, including the iconic Gelada baboon, as well as unique birds and other highland species. Experience the raw beauty of one of Ethiopia’s greatest natural treasures before returning to Gondar.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch before beginning your exploration of the Northern Cluster of Lalibela’s famous rock-hewn churches. “My tour operator was very communicative even before the trip began and very responsive on WhatsApp. He booked all my domestic flights and arranged all my airport pick-ups and drop-offs. He had professional guides in all the regions I visited, the itinerary was clear, and he was flexible with any changes. There were no extra costs. He is reliable, communicative and well experienced. I will be back with the same company.”

They were patient, professional, knowledgeable and took great care of us. Everything was seamlessly coordinated and they were always on time for pickups and made sure we were briefed in advance of the itinerary and any changes. One of my top travel destinations in Africa, with some of the kindest and warmest people. Maereg went above and beyond! First-class service, always with a smile!”
