Why We Go
Ethiopia’s largest national park: true wilderness on the west bank of the Omo.
Omo National Park covers roughly 4,068 square kilometres of wilderness. Eland, oryx, Lelwel hartebeest, buffalo, giraffe, elephant, lion, leopard and cheetah roam its plains, though access is difficult and facilities minimal.
Visits are by special arrangement as part of a supported expedition, often combined with the Surma (Suri) communities around Kibish.
Highlights
- Eland, oryx, buffalo and Burchell’s zebra
- The remote west bank of the Omo River
- Surma and Me’en communities nearby
- Genuine expedition travel far from other visitors
